The Civic Buzz meets the first Tuesday of each month at the Black Forest Inn Banquet Room, Nicollet Avenue S. at 26th St. W. in Minneapolis. We gather at 5:30. You can order drinks and food and we begin our meeting at 6:15 and end at 7:30. Each month we have a speaker followed by discussion. Each month will have a new topic/issue for discussion. Anyone interested in discussing pressing topics related to citizen engagement are invited. A discussion with the League of Women Voters means that all voices are heard and we take opinions seriously. In the end, we all learn something new and hopefully have a broader understanding of the issues. Civic Buzz is co-sponsored by Whittier Alliance.
There will not be a Civic Buzz on January 7, 2020. Instead we are collaborating with LWV St Paul. Michael Wall from the Secretary of State’s Office is our speaker. This meeting will be held at the St Paul Neighborhood Network 550 Vandalia Street Suite 170, Saint Paul MN 55114 –Tuesday, January 21, 2020, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
We are very excited about this event and even though it will be live streamed, we encourage in-person attendance from our members and neighborhood friends. 2020 is a very important election year. We look forward to the discussion from Mr. Wall, Voter Outreach Specialist for the Office of Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon. He describes his job as spending “his days connecting people to the power of our representative democracy and their place in it, helping people learn and utilize the registration and voting processes, and … so lucky to be supporting the idea that, “Your Vote is Your Voice.”
