2010 Census and Redistricting (Click for Details)

Redistricting: a briefing paper produced by the League of Women Voters Minnesota defines redistricting and outlines three proposals for reform.

LWVMN Position:  Support timely redistricting based substantially on populations and affecting all state and local governmental bodies.  Support… procedures… to ensure prompt redistricting by the Legislature or by a reapportionment commission.

Issues:  The states around the Great Lakes are in danger of decreasing their representatives.  What does this mean to their control of the Great Lakes and will it be taken over by the Federal Government?

What does this mean to the local and municipal level of government?

How will the issues of color and race affect redistricting?

This briefing paper outlines some of the most significant issues in redrawing district boundaries.  To read, click on PDF below.
